About this Event
Some of the most compelling images of the past 50 years were captured on the streets, alleys, and public places across the world. This two-part class will start out with a classroom session dedicated to the ethics, practice, and secrets of street photography. Then we will reconvene on State Street to practice the techniques we've learned for the afternoon. The second part of the course will be an in-person image critique session on Monday at 5:30 pm You will be able to submit images for discussion via email.
Schedule:
Saturday, 8/16:
10-11 am Classroom session to discuss street photography ethics and techniques at the Camera Company, Odana Rd
11a.m. - 4 pm Street Photography Practice on State Street and surrounding areas
Monday 8/18
5:30-6:30 pm Image critique and discussion in person at the Camera Company, Odana Rd
Students should have comfort using their cameras and bring at least one wide-angle lens. We will be moving quickly, so you won’t need tripods of a large collection of lenses (one wide and one telephoto lens will be more than enough).
Instructor - Steve Daubs
Steve’s passion for photography was born in the streets of Chicago followed by late nights in the darkroom in his college years at Northwestern University. Since then, he’s worked as a photojournalist, travel photographer, and, for the past 10 years, as a wedding and portrait photographer in Florida and Wisconsin. With more than a decade of experience teaching, he loves demystifying photographic concepts and helping people understand not only how to do something but why it matters.
