This month we will be sprucing up Hoyt Park's historic fireplaces. The fireplaces have been recently restored and we want to make sure to keep them in good shape for years to come.
August is our month to clean out the ash and pick up any trash left by park users. Importantly, we will also cut back any encroaching weeds so that the fireplaces get air circulation assuring that the mortar stays dry.
We will meet in the main parking lot at 10 AM and, depending on the size of our volunteer crew, we will split into groups to progressively move throughout the park.
Bring a trowel, a hand clippers and work gloves if you have them. Be prepared for mosquitos as many of the fireplaces are surrounded by woods.
The Friends of Hoyt Park will provide light refreshments and good company!
