Join Kansas City Friends of Jung for an immersive evening exploring the deep relationship between creativity and psychological transformation.
In The Art of Self, Dr. Lois Wilkins invites participants to rediscover imagination as a living dialogue between the conscious and unconscious—an act of soul-making that mirrors the process of individuation itself.
Drawing from Jung’s writings and her own extensive work in creative and depth-psychological practice, Dr. Wilkins weaves together reflection, performance, and community engagement to illuminate how the creative impulse becomes a path toward wholeness.
Program Highlights

Goals and Learning Objectives
Goal 1: Illuminate the Connection Between Depth Psychology and Creative Expression
Facilitate conversations exploring how Jungian concepts—such as archetypes, imagination, and individuation—manifest in the artwork of KCFOJ community members.
Showcase creative works that evoke psychological themes, inviting attendees to reflect on their own creative journeys and inner symbols.
Goal 2: Encourage Community Engagement and Support Through Art
Create an interactive atmosphere where participants can engage directly with local artists, learning about the psychological inspiration behind their work.
Promote the sale and appreciation of locally crafted art, emphasizing the value of supporting creative expression within the KCFOJ community.
A Celebration of Imagination and Soul
As autumn turns toward reflection, The Art of Self offers a space to honor creativity as both instinct and ritual—an opportunity to explore how art can express the soul’s desire for meaning and connection.
Guests are encouraged to come in costume, enjoy refreshments, and participate in a vibrant evening of dialogue, artistry, and shared imagination.
Each attendee will receive a free raffle ticket for a chance to win a copy of The Alchemy of Fairy Tales, Volume III.
In a culture that often forgets the wisdom of imagination, The Art of Self reminds us that creativity is not a luxury—it is how the soul speaks, heals, and becomes whole.
