About this Event

Reconnect with nature through art in this inspiring botanical illustration workshop in Amsterdam. Learn how to slow down, observe the intricate beauty of plants and flowers, and translate your discoveries into expressive illustrations using pencil and watercolor.

If the weather allows, this session will take place outdoors. During this hands-on workshop, we will spend time with nature exploring Amsterdam’s natural flora. Inspired by the legacy of pioneering naturalist and botanical artist Maria Sibylla Merian, you’ll develop observation and drawing techniques that celebrate the delicate details of the natural world.

Maria Sibylla Merian (1647–1717) was a groundbreaking artist, scientist, and natural historian whose detailed studies of plants and insects transformed botanical illustration. She was among the first to document insects alongside the plants they depended on, combining scientific observation with artistic excellence.

This workshop is suitable for all levels, whether you’re a beginner or an experienced artist, this workshop offers a mindful and creative way to deepen your connection with nature while learning the foundations of botanical illustration.

All materials are provided — just bring your curiosity, and we’ll take care of the rest!
