About this Event
April is National Jazz Month!
A time to honor a musical tradition born from resilience, improvisation, and bold imagination. In this interactive workshop, participants are invited to explore the spirit of jazz through listening, and making.
Guided by Sharlia, this gathering blends short listening sessions, storytelling, and hands-on creation as guests decorate blank vinyl records inspired by the sounds and histories of jazz. From the brass-lined streets of New Orleans to the radical experimentation of bebop and beyond, we’ll explore how jazz became both an art form and a language of freedom.
Through guided prompts, movement-based improvisation, and visual response to iconic recordings, participants will reflect on jazz as conversation, collaboration, and creative risk. No artistic experience is required, just curiosity and a willingness to play. Each attendee will leave with a personalized vinyl art piece and a deeper appreciation for jazz as a living archive of resilience and expression.
Come ready to listen, differently. To improvise. To swing a little.
WORKSHOP STARTS AT 2:00pm
