About this Event

I’m Michelle Montes, a professional watercolor artist and artist‑paper specialist at Hahnemühle. Join my hands‑on workshop at this year’s watercolor event at Hyatt’s All Things Creative, to reconnect with foundational watercolor skills that are often skipped — starting with how to stretch your own watercolor paper for a flat, stable surface instead of relying on pre‑stretched blocks.

You’ll learn a reliable stretching method and apply it immediately to core techniques: smooth gradation washes, controlled wet‑into‑wet effects on stretched paper, and effective use/removal of masking fluid. Stretching gives you predictable flow, cleaner edges, fewer blooms/back-runs, easier lifting and reworking, and a more professional finish — all of which make large washes, crisp detail, and subtle textures far easier to achieve. All supplies are provided; space is limited, so bring your questions and plan to have fun!
