Join us for a fresh, engaging workshop that brings together two unexpected guides - a seasoned queer therapist (Kris LaRocca) and a renowned straight rabbi (Brent Spodek) - who first connected through their shared interest in improv comedy.

Drawing from both clinical psychology and spiritual wisdom, you'll learn practical tools for navigating conflict and deepening emotional intimacy. These approaches are grounded in modern relationship research and over 20 years of combined experience supporting couples through their journeys.

Through insightful discussion, fun puppet role-plays, and interactive exercises, you'll discover new ways to strengthen your communication and build more meaningful bonds in a welcoming, supportive space.

Who should attend:

• While the content of the workshop will be catered toward intimate partnerships, it is applicable for anyone looking to improve their communication skills and capacity for deeper connection with others.
• We welcome you to attend on your own or to bring partners, family members, and/or friends. This workshop is appropriate for partners at any stage in their relationship.
• This event is 18+.

Facilitators:

Kristy (Kris) LaRocca, LMHC (she/they): is a couples therapist with over 10 years of experience and the owner of Live Your Truth Counseling, a queer-embracing therapy practice. Driven by her deep fascination with human connection and communication, she is dedicated to helping people build stronger, more authentic relationships through evidence-based approaches and creative engagement. Kris lives in Beacon with her partner and their 3 adorable animals.

Brent Chaim Spodek, Rabbi (he/him): Rabbi Brent works extensively with couples preparing for marriage, serves as a member of the faculty at Pardes North America and is the emeritus rabbi at Beacon Hebrew Alliance. He also organizes retreats for interfaith couples and has been widely recognized as one of the most inspiring rabbis in America. Rabbi Brent lives in Beacon with his partner and two kids.
