About this Event

Join us for an intimate PR Fireside Conversation hosted by Bethany D'Inverno, founder of EGO, featuring PR experts Linda Harrison and Jo Leatham, as we explore what it really takes to get your business or personal brand into the press, with a chance to ask your questions in a live Q&A session.

This is a practical, honest session designed for female entrepreneurs and creatives who want to understand how PR actually works - what journalists are looking for, how to approach them and how to confidently put yourself forward for media coverage without overthinking the process.

We’ll be answering the key questions women in business are asking right now: how to find journalists’ contact details, whether you need a press release or if journalists write the story themselves, how to approach pitching (including national vs local coverage) and whether pitches should be tailored or sent more broadly. We’ll also explore how exclusivity works, how much control journalists have over your story and what really increases your chances of being featured.

Alongside this, we’ll cover the practical essentials from what PR actually is and where to start, to whether you need professional imagery, how to send it and how to follow up if your story isn’t picked up, including whether journalists will ever tell you in advance if something is going to be covered.

In addition to the conversation, there will be time for networking, a welcome drink and space to connect with likeminded women building businesses and personal brands in the area, all focused on one goal: getting seen, heard and featured in the press.

About Linda

Linda Harrison is a PR expert and former journalist with more than 25 years of experience in the media industry. She began her career after gaining the NCTJ Diploma in Newspaper Journalism at Cardiff University, cutting her teeth as a reporter at The Argus in Brighton.

She went on to work in national newsrooms in London, including The Daily Express, Sunday Express and Daily Star, and has also written for The Daily Telegraph, The Guardian and MailOnline. Over the course of her career, Linda has covered everything from light-hearted human-interest stories to celebrity interviews, crown court trials and breaking international news.

From the moment she saw her first headline published at university, Linda was hooked on journalism and the power of storytelling. Today, she uses that same expertise to help small business owners and entrepreneurs gain visibility by securing press coverage and sharing their stories with the media.
