Some folks find calm in orderliness and symmetry, while others are more comfortable in meandering spaces. Through visual aids and experience, participants will identify the kind of space that invites them to slow down, observe, and go deeper. Using those same aids and more, participants will learn to know how the basic elements of design — such as line, color, form, balance, and unity — contribute to creating that kind of space for them. But we don’t just look at our gardens or sit in them to meditate, we tend them. So, we’ll look at how the ways in which we interact with our gardens can also invite us to slow down, observe, and go deeper. Participants will take with them practices ranging from those that simplify labor to those that help us engage such old attitudes as perfectionism in new ways. These practices also have the benefit of teaching us to listen more carefully to the garden and open to the ways in which the garden tends us.
This series program will meet for three Thursdays from 6:30pm - 8pm, on Feb. 5, Feb. 12, and Feb. 19. The cost is $25 for the series.
