The Art and Science of Teaching Yoga; Experiential Anatomy and Yoga Pedagogy
with Alyssa Soppe ERYT500
August 22-23
Teaching yoga is both an art and a science. Effective teachers possess more than knowledge of postures and sequencing; they understand how people learn, how bodies move, and how awareness transforms experience. This training explores the intersection of experiential anatomy, yoga pedagogy, and Self-Awakening Yoga principles to help teachers develop embodied knowledge, authentic presence, and skillful instruction.
Participants will investigate anatomy through direct experience rather than memorization, exploring how sensation, movement, breath, fascia, and nervous system regulation influence yoga practice. Self-Awakening inquiry practices help build the understanding that a yoga is a process-oriented and awareness is the teacher.
What is Pedagogy?
Pedagogy is the art, science, and practice of teaching. It encompasses how learning is facilitated, not simply what is taught. Effective pedagogy considers how students absorb information, develop skills, build confidence, integrate experiences, and ultimately become independent learners.
