Ok... we're gonna try this out! The first ever "ADULT Mini-bike" Race on the Fred Lobster International Speedway Track!!This race will take place between the 3rd and 4th leg of the Arango Tango 200 (approx. 2:30)!! Depending on the # of bikes and time allotment, we are looking at possibly a 10 lap race.
This race is to help raise money for the cause (see the "Arango Tango 200" Event Page), and will require a $50 donation to participate.
We are still working on final rules/classes, so when you check that you are attending/participating in this race, please leave a comment of what you intend to ride (pics too, if you can) and we'll assess as we go. Please bear with us as we fumble our way through this new endeavor.
As for now, here are some generic rules that we will follow:
-THIS IS NOT A GOOD IDEA!!!
-Minimum age is 18 years old with proof of age.
-Racers AND Bikes must pass a pre-race inspection. (No loose parts or fluid leaks, and must have working brakes etc.)
-All Racers must sign a waiver.
-DOT Full-Face helmet – no racing without one.... and Eye Protection.
-Gloves, Boots over the ankles, long sleeved shirts and long pants.
-You must have an easily accessible K*ll switch, preferably mounted on the handlebars.
-All bikes MUST have a pull start. No external starters. This must be demonstrated at registration in order to get a race number. Some true mini bikes may have stock electric starters – these will have to pass a visual inspection to receive a race number. Once again, NO EXTERNAL STARTERS.
-No front end hydraulic suspension. Springs are fine, but no motorcycle-style hydraulics. You know what a stock mini bike frame looks like (your Tractor Supply bikes!) and we will adhere to it. Rear shock-mounted seats are ok.
-One gear, no shifting. Torque converters allowed.
-Wheel size, not tire size, is limited to 10” or smaller.
-Frames must be old school minibike style (i.e.: Tractor Supply Bikes). Not trail bikes/dirt bikes/mini motorcycles with motor changes.
-Looks like there may be 3 classes... Full Suspension/No Suspension/Hardtail.
-If there are enough participants that bring Pitbikes, that may be an additional class. 150cc max and horizontal engine to be considered pitbike.
Bear with us as we try figure out this new thing for us. Main thing to keep in mind, we all want to have some fun, be safe.... and raise as much money as we can for the Arango Family!!
Please message us with your contact info and keep up with this page for announcements as we get closer to race day.
You will need to sign in and register by 11:00 at the registration tent by the pit area.
