THE APPRENTICE charts Donald Trump’s rise under the dark tutelage of Roy Cohn. Cohn mentors a young Trump, transplanting the ruthless Red Scare tactics honed during his time as Joseph McCarthy’s chief counsel into the New York real estate world—effectively sculpting Trump in his own cynical image.
Rule 1: Attack, Attack, Attack
Rule 2: Admit nothing. Deny everything.
Rule 3: No matter what happens, you claim victory and never admit defeat.
Trump's drive to expand his father's real estate empire make him Cohn's ideal protégé. As their relationship develops through the 70s and 80s, Trump makes his fortune, but at what cost?

ARTSPLACE is pleased to join the national celebration of Canadian cinema with a special double bill screening in honour of National Canadian Film Day (CanFilmDay) on Wednesday, April 15.
Presented in partnership with REEL CANADA, this annual event is a coast-to-coast tribute to Canadian film and storytelling, inviting communities to come together to experience the richness and diversity of our national cinema. More than ever, Canadians need a moment to take a deep breath together. We need community.
The ARTSPLACE screening lineup for 2026 features two distinctive Canadian films:
- HAIDA MODERN, 2 pm | 1 h 25 min
A visually stunning documentary tracing the career of Robert Davidson, a leading figure in the renaissance of Haida art, and the carver of the first Totem raised in his community in almost 90 years.
- THE APPRENTICE, 4 pm | 2 h 2 min
Long before he set his sights on politics, Donald Trump (Stan) had a singular ambition—to expand his real estate empire and take over New York City. This drive, and his willingness to do anything to make it happen, makes him the perfect protégé for notorious attorney Roy Cohn. As their relationship develops through the 70s and 80s, Trump makes his fortune—but at what cost?
