The Amistad Story: Connecticut's Role in the Fight for Freedom

The 1839 Amistad Uprising is an important part of Connecticut and, indeed, American history. At this program, led by Discovering Amistad, will take attendees on a journey through the lives of the 53 Africans who were onboard the Amistad, how their freedom was interrupted, and how Connecticut played a major role in the abolitionist movement. There will also be replica artifacts and visual aids on display during this engaging conversation!
