The American Kennel Club's (AKC®) Canine Good Citizen® (CGC®) test is a certification program that evaluates a dog's basic obedience and good manners in a relaxed, non-competitive environment. Taking the CGC test can benefit dogs and owners in several ways, including fostering a stronger bond, teaching valuable life skills, and potentially opening doors to therapy dog work or other advanced training opportunities. 8. Reaction to another dog
9. Reaction to distraction
10. Supervised separation
Do I and my dog have to attend an AKC CGC Course before testing?
While not mandatory, a CGC course can help you both learn the 10 required items for the test.
