The American Crisis: Building an Opposition in Oklahoma with Beto O'Rourke and Steve Schmidt

Activist and political leader Beto O’Rourke and renowned political strategist and author of The Warning Steve Schmidt will be in Tulsa on Thursday April 10 2025 to discuss “The American Crisis: Building an Opposition in Oklahoma.”
“I'm excited to be back in Tulsa working with Steve and all of the great Oklahoma organizers who understand the importance of meeting the moment with everything we've got” says Beto O’Rourke.
O’Rourke is a fourth-generation Texan born and raised in El Paso where he has served as a small business owner a city council representative and a member of Congress.
He continues to work on expanding voting rights and defending our democracy through the organization Powered by People. Launched by Beto O’Rourke in 2019 the group has been a juggernaut in Texas voter registration running the largest progressive voter mobilization drive in state history. From the Rio Grande Valley to East Texas and beyond Powered by People has helped register hundreds of thousands of Texans.
He is the author of “We’ve Got to Try” a book that tells the stories of previously unknown civil and voting rights champions from our history to inspire us for the fight ahead.
O’Rourke joined Tim Walz on Thursday March 27 for a town hall at the Fort Bend County Fairgrounds in Rosenberg Texas.
This will be Steve Schmidt’s first public appearance since the November 2024 election. "Tulsa is a great American city with a deep history" says Schmidt. "It's a perfect place to talk about the necessity of opposition to the MAGA danger and Trump presidency which is the great crisis of 21st century America.”

In the aftermath of the 2016 American presidential election Steve has emerged as one of the strongest and most incisive voices commenting on U.S. politics and global issues. He was the first person on American television to say that Donald Trump could win in 2015 and accurately predicted in September 2020 the political violence that broke out on January 6 2021.
Well-known for his part in the 2008 U.S. election cycle Steve was credited with transforming Senator John McCain’s campaign “from corpse to contender.” He previously architected a similar turnaround for California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger. Steve was a top strategist in the 2004 campaign to re-elect President George W. Bush and served in the Bush administration during which time he led the successful confirmations of two U.S. Supreme Court Justices. He spent ten years as an analyst with MSNBC resigning to found the Lincoln Project which became the most politically effective Super PAC in history during the 2020 election cycle.
Steve is founder of The Warning a digital media company comprised of a daily newsletter on Substack podcast and video analysis on his YouTube channel that reaches more than 10 million people per month. Through The Warning he helps his audience to understand the gathering dangers bearing down on the United States and its people. It speaks truth to power practices straight talk and explains what is happening in our turbulent era.
