About this Event
The Alchemy of Winter Saturday, January 10th, 2026 at 2-4pm
As nature draws inward to its deepest rest, winter invites us to embrace stillness and listen to our essence. But how do we find peace in the quiet and build strength from within?
Join Portland-based Alchemical Acupuncturist, Qigong instructor, and Meditation guide Christopher Miller for an afternoon exploring winter's profound wisdom through the lens of Taoist philosophy and Chinese Medicine.
Winter belongs to the Water element—the season of storage, reflection, and deep restoration. As we transition from the Year of the Yin Wood Snake into the Yang Fire Horse (beginning February 17, 2026), this workshop offers practical tools to cultivate your essence and build a strong foundation for spring's emergence.
You'll experience:
- The Water element's role in storing life force (Jing) and cultivating willpower
- Why winter affects your kidneys, bones, and adrenals (and how to support them)
- Specific warming foods and practices to nourish your deepest energy reserves
- Gentle Qigong movements for kidney support and essence cultivation
- Guided meditation for deep listening and inner stillness
- Insights into navigating the Snake to Horse zodiac transition
- Journal prompts for winter contemplation
You'll leave with:
- A winter nutrition and lifestyle guide
- Kidney-nourishing practices for the season
- Understanding of how to work with fear and find courage in stillness
- Tools for building your foundation for spring
- Community connection with others seeking seasonal alignment
Perfect for anyone feeling depleted by the holidays, seeking restoration and renewal, or wanting to understand the wisdom of winter's quiet power.
What to bring: Comfortable clothes for gentle movement, journal, and an open mind.
Limited to 20 participants for an intimate experience
