About this Event
Africa stands at the threshold of a defining decade, one powered by leadership renewal, technological acceleration, and historic opportunities across trade, investment, and industrial transformation. According to the African Development Bank (AfDB), Africa is projected to remain the second-fastest-growing region globally through 2026, with more than 22 African countries expected to maintain GDP growth above 5%. Meanwhile, the continent’s population, expected to surpass 1.7 billion by 2030 (UN DESA), is fuelling an expanding labour force and fast-growing consumer markets.
The Africa Summit London and the 16th African Business Leadership Awards (ABLA) offer a premier global platform to recognise and amplify the leaders, entrepreneurs, reformers, and institutions accelerating Africa’s economic rise. Hosted in London, home to the world’s largest global finance ecosystem alongside New York, the summit convenes Heads of State, ministers, multinational CEOs, investors, development partners, academic thought leaders, and influential members of the diaspora.
The theme, “From Vision to Velocity”, reflects the urgency of transforming Africa’s bold aspirations into real, measurable outcomes. With Africa attracting over $100 billion in FDI inflows annually (UNCTAD), increasing investor appetite for renewable energy, digital infrastructure, fintech, manufacturing, and agribusiness signals new opportunities for rapid scaling.
Hosts an exclusive High-Level Networking Reception, feature the Leadership Summit and the 16th edition of ABLA—celebrating outstanding African business leadership, and Green Room at the UK House of Lords, convened with senior UK parliamentarians and global industry leaders, strengthening collaboration between the UK/European and African business ecosystems.
Africa remains one of the world’s most promising economic frontiers, driven by rapid urbanisation, expanding regional integration, and robust demographic trends. The World Bank notes that Africa will account for one-third of the global workforce by 2050, while McKinsey reports that the continent’s combined business and consumer market is projected to exceed $6.7 trillion by 2030.
However, significant challenges persist: infrastructure deficits require $130–$170 billion in annual investment (AfDB); climate vulnerability threatens food and energy systems; and the global economic restructuring has exposed gaps in supply chain resilience, governance reforms, and access to affordable capital.
The Africa Summit London is designed to address these issues head-on. It provides a high-impact platform where policy leaders, CEOs, investors, and global institutions align on solutions—enhancing Africa’s competitiveness and positioning the continent as an indispensable player in the global economic order.
Hosting the summit in London amplifies access to global capital markets, UK policymakers, international investors, African diaspora professionals, and development partners, driving meaningful engagement between Africa and the global economy.
This unique positioning strengthens partnerships, deepens investment flows, and accelerates Africa’s transition from vision to velocity in delivering inclusive and sustainable growth
About ABLA: Legacy, Purpose & Recent Laureates
What is ABLA / Why It Matters
The African Business Leadership Awards (ABLA) is the premier annual recognition programme by African Leadership Magazine (ALM), designed to honour the most outstanding individuals, institutions, and change-makers across Africa’s private sector, public institutions, and regulatory frameworks. Over more than a decade, ABLA has built a track record of spotlighting excellence, celebrating visionary leadership, promoting integrity, and reinforcing Africa’s global competitiveness. The Awards serve as a benchmark for corporate governance, social impact, innovation, and leadership, underlining ALM’s commitment to “Afro-positive” narratives and shaping the global story of Africa’s business and development potential.
How ABLA Works
● Nomination & Screening: Institutions, companies, business leaders and regulatory bodies from across Africa are nominated either by public submission, editorial research, or stakeholder recommendation.
● Evaluation & Voting: A multi-layered process that combines editorial board review with expert panel analysis and, where appropriate, public/peer voting — ensuring transparency, meritocracy, and broad representation.
● Recognition & Amplification: Winners are honoured at the ABLA ceremony, receive formal awards, and are featured in the ABLA Honourees Edition of the magazine, providing global visibility and long-term legacy.
