Getting the old Aerial Maps station wagon back on the road for just our second gig this year, the Maps are stoked to say we’re playing a special show with good friends Wifey and long-time Maps alumnus Andy Meehan’s new outfit, Dusty.
Shaping up as a soothing Sunday evening full of tales of long roads, dusty towns and the minutiae of lives and loves played out amid the grit and grain of the big old city of Sydney, we’re thrilled to be stepping upon the stage of the Union Hotel on Sunday, September 13.
In some ways celebrating the 15-year anniversary (wot? wow!) of our second album, The Sunset Park, it’s sure to be a fine spring afternoon and evening.
Joining us are the much-loved Wifey, led by Andy Calvert and making their “band mode” comeback with new drummer Paul Dunn. Across three terrific albums they’ve carved out a world of country-tinged urban epics, literate sounds of love and longing that make them perfect company for the Maps.
Also on board is the debut outing of Dusty, the new outfit from long-time Maps alumnus Andy Meehan (Dusty Ravens, Modern Giant, Fragile), who joins forces with Andy Calvert, trumpet player Kim Griffin and Chris Duffy on bass for an affecting country/pop affair. We can’t wait for this and hope to see everyone we’ve ever met, there.
