The National Blueberry Festival returns to South Haven each second weekend in August, celebrating the region’s rich blueberry heritage with four days of family fun. One of the nation’s longest-running fruit festivals, this beloved tradition has brought locals and visitors together since 1963 for Farm Day activities, a 5K run/walk, parade, carnival rides, live music, food vendors, artisan markets, pancake breakfasts, pie-eating contests, sand sculpture competitions, and plenty of blueberry treats. The festival honors an industry rooted in Southwest Michigan. Van Buren County is the nation’s most prolific producer of highbush blueberries, supported by growers, packers, U-pick farms, specialty equipment, agritourism businesses, and cottage industries throughout the area. Michigan growers produce more than 100 million pounds of blueberries each year, and we're proud to celebrate the people, places, and fruit that make this corner of the state the Blueberry Capital of the World!
