The 4th Annual Community Economic Development Summit returns — and this year we move as one with the 5th Annual Black Wall Street Fest, the largest Black-owned festival in Connecticut. The Festival celebrates the legacy. The Summit builds the infrastructure.
This is not just an event. It is a room for memory, truth, strategy, relationship, and responsibility. In one night, we remember what was built, name what was taken, and build what can be inherited.
The evening moves through four parts:
MEMORY — The Rise of New Haven. The legacy of enterprise, land, culture, faith, and self-determination. Not nostalgia. Instruction.
TRUTH — Tulsa was one example. New Haven was another. A parallel timeline of how thriving Black economic ecosystems were disrupted and how those patterns continue today.
RESTORATION — Restoration is a civic act. Leaders working across justice, food, housing, reentry, public safety, and civic power on what liberation work looks like in practice.
ASCENSION — A deeper conversation about leadership, trust, responsibility, and the lived journey behind public achievement — with the Black women leading across New Haven's institutions.
We close with The Commitment: one connection, one action, one contribution, carried beyond the room.
