The 3 P's of Hydrangeas: Planting, Pruning and Propagation
Michele Walfred, Gerri Jackson
Saturday, September 6
10 am – 12 pm
$15
In Delaware, we commonly see five hydrangea species growing in the landscape, as well as some climbing cultivars. Fall is a terrific time to plant a new hydrangea! Or transplant one you have to a better location. Delaware Master Gardeners Michele Walfred and Gerri Jackson will demonstrate how to prepare the site to give your new planting the best chance for success.
What species of hydrangea should be pruned, and when? Did you know that pruning at the wrong time can result in no blooms? Don't worry! As fall approaches you haven't missed any deadlines! You still have time to study what you have at home and mark your calendars for pruning (or not). Michele and Gerri will also share their favorite methods and products of propagation and how to turn what you prune off into a new plant!
