The Petaluma Poetry Walk returns to downtown Petaluma from 11am to 7pm, Sunday, September 20, 2026 celebrating its 29th year bringing live poetry readings to the heart of downtown Petaluma. Join us from 1–1:45pm at The Phoenix Theater, to hear three poets, Lorrie Chang, Mahrs Emerson Schoppman, and mOody bLaCk. Poets will be introduced by original Giotis, founding poet of Petaluma’s Found Poets poetry showcase.
Founded by the late poet Geri Digiorno in 1996, the free, day-long event features over two dozen regionally and nationally recognized poets. Among them are: Maw Shein Win, the Berkeley Poetry Festival’s 2025 LifeTime Achievement Award Winner; Claire Drucker, our new Sonoma County Poet Laureate; and Cintia Santana, winner of the Northern California Book Award in Poetry.

Phoenix Theater 201 Washington Street, Petaluma
The Petaluma Poetry Walk is an annual poetry festival founded in September 1996 by the late poet Geri Digiorno. It features 26 poets reading their work at eight venues. The event has grown over the years, attracting notable poets and a diverse audience and includes readings in both English and Spanish.
During this day-long “movable feast,” participants walk to different locations to enjoy a variety of poetic performances. It has become a tradition in Petaluma, reflecting the city’s rich cultural and literary heritage.
