Don’t Trash it, Smash it!
Amesbury is hosting its first-ever Great Pumpkin Smash, and you’re invited to turn your leftover jack-o-lanterns into something good for the planet.
On Saturday, November 7 at Heritage Park (Lower Millyard), from 10am to 2pm, bring your pumpkins and let loose with some smashing and stomping before they’re composted at the city’s yard waste facility.
With up to 32 tons of pumpkins entering Amesbury’s waste stream each year, this event helps keep heavy organic material out of landfills and reduces disposal costs.
The committee will also be collecting unwanted Halloween candy for donation to a local food bank.
Please be sure your pumpkins are free of candles, yarn, stickers, googly eyes, plastics, or anything non-biodegradable.
