Celebrate Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s legacy at Sweet Potato Comfort Pie’s 10th Annual Holiday of Service on Sunday, January 19 at the Metropolitan Ballroom in Golden Valley.Doors open at 1:15 PM, and a lively pre-show reception begins at 1:30 PM.
This milestone event is designed to unite our community through audience-engaged conversations, enjoying soulful musical talents, and uplifting each other through the pain of a divided country.

This isn’t just an event; it’s a chance to share your voice. Join in heartfelt conversations on freedom, history, and how we can come together as we conclude the first quarter of the 21st century. Community volunteers will facilitate these conversations and provide a platform for everyone to express their thoughts and ideas.

The Auction:
As part of this program, we will have a special auction supporting our community healing and connection mission. Three unique items will be up for bid. Proceeds from the auction will help fund Sweet Potato Comfort Pie’s efforts to foster racial equity and social justice through dialogue, service, and the power of sharing pies. The starting bid is $200 for each item. Don’t miss your chance to make an impact while taking home something truly special.

-Make Gumbo with our Board Chair Niila Hebert for up to 6 people
-Live Art Piece painted during the program
-Boat ride on Lake Minnetonka in July for up to 6 people

Dr.Martin Luther King Jr. Human Rights Contest:
Golden Valley’s Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Human Rights Contest has $100 prizes in 4 age categories. It is a creative contest focusing on a theme from Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s writings.
This contest is open to students in grades K-12 who live in Golden Valley, attend a school in Golden Valley, or attend a Robbinsdale or Hopkins District school.
The winner of this contest will present their work at the pre-show reception.

PLEASE NOTE:
(VIRTUAL ATTENDEES ONLY) You must register for the event, and then you will be sent a ZOOM link to receive a sign-in for the day of the event.
The pre-program will not be live-streamed.
The 96 pies will be baked on Saturday, January 18.
Pie slices will also be offered to all in-person attendees.
There will be gluten and vegan pies offered.
