That Night in Manchester is a brand new musical regaling the audience with a nostalgic and emotional journey through the heady days of the 80s and 90s Manchester indie scene. The audience will be taken back to the vibrant and exhilarating Madchester era when youth culture and the emerging music scene collided in an irresistible story of how life was breathed into a failing city through a phenomenon that took over the world.
You will hear a father (the Narrator) recounting his life in Manchester during the 80’s and 90’s to his son. Through his story, the Narrator guides the audience through the melting pot of indie rock, dance music and alternative culture, whilst experiencing the sounds of these iconic bands performed live on stage by top touring tribute bands.
The show flawlessly recreates the distinctive sounds of Manchester’s 80’s and 90’s music scene, from the legendary Haçienda and acid house parties, to Spike Island and Oasis’s iconic concert at Knebworth.
That Night in Manchester is for anyone with a love for anything MADCHESTER as it combines the infectious energy and intoxicating sounds of bands such as Joy Division, The Smiths, The Stone Roses, Happy Mondays, Oasis and many more, with a behind the scenes, under the skin account of the highs and lows of the bands, record companies and iconic venues that made up this pivotal period in music history.
