Thanksgiving Day Turkey Trot at Lake Park
Schedule
Thu Nov 27 2025 at 09:00 am to 10:15 am
UTC-06:00Location
Lake Park Pavilion | Milwaukee, WI
The course loops around Lake Park with options for one or two miles if that's more your speed. It is the longest running Thanksgiving day "Turkey Trot" in Milwaukee. Each year participation increases as word spreads of this event.
The 2024 event saw almost 500 runners.
The race starts at 9:00am on Thanksgiving morning. The suggested entry fee for the race is a food donation for the Hunger Task Force of Milwaukee. Place your donation by the tree when you arrive. We meet on the lawn just outside Lake Park Bistro.
To register click "Going" on the Facebook event. That's it! You can pickup a race bib when you arrive.
Friends, family, kids, dogs, neighbors, aunt Mildred, and uncle Ebenezer are all invited! Please share this event on your Facebook Page.
This race was started 27 years ago by Victor Reckmeyer and his wife Tracy. Victor and Tracy co-ran the Turkey Trot until she passed away 21 years ago. Since that time Victor has continued to run the event with his family.
Expenses for the race are covered by Victor personally, and the food donations runners bring are given to local food banks.
Don't pay for a for-profit out-of-town Turkey Trot, the kind that roll into town each year. Find the true spirit of Thanksgiving in Lake Park on Nov 27th. (Do you really need another t-shirt and race medal?) Join the Lake Park Turkey Trot this year and then make it a new annual tradition.
