Step into the vibrant world of Thai cooking in this hands-on class led by food writer and chef-instructor Shawnie Kelley. At The Mix, we bring you fresh, fun, and flavorful classes designed for food lovers, aspiring chefs, and anyone who enjoys the excitement of cooking something new. Thai cuisine is celebrated for its harmony of taste—where sweet, sour, salty, bitter, and spicy come together in perfect balance. In this immersive experience, you’ll learn how to create that balance using authentic techniques and ingredients that make Thai food unforgettable.

Chef Shawnie will introduce you to the essential flavor profiles of Thai cuisine, its culinary traditions, and where to find specialty ingredients right here in Columbus. You’ll work at our professional wok stations to master three beloved dishes that capture the essence of Thailand’s kitchens.

Begin with Tom Yum, the king of Thai soups, an aromatic hot and sour broth layered with coconut milk, lemongrass, fresh herbs, and chili. It’s refreshing and bold, perfect as an appetizer, a light lunch, or a full meal alongside rice. Next, cook a classic Red Panang Curry with Beef, rich and creamy with coconut milk, balanced by a gentle heat from red curry paste. The class finishes with a quick Vegetable Stir-Fry with Thai Basil, a colorful medley of crisp vegetables scented with garlic, ginger, and lime that’s as nourishing as it is satisfying.

This class offers more than just recipes—it’s an opportunity to understand the art of Thai cooking and leave with skills you’ll use for a lifetime. You’ll walk away with confidence, inspiration, and the satisfaction of knowing how to turn simple ingredients into a beautiful, flavor-packed meal.

What to Expect:
Classes are limited to 16 participants to ensure an interactive experience. You’ll be standing, cooking, and tasting throughout the evening, so please wear comfortable, closed-toe shoes and tie back long hair. Aprons are provided.

Age Requirement: Open to ages 15 and up.

Cancellation Policy:
Cancellations made up to 48 hours before class are eligible for a refund or class credit. If The Mix must cancel, participants will be notified and given the option to reschedule or receive a full refund.
