Come shoot in a Victorian Manor run by a DIY arts collective, Estate of Mind. This is a TF* shoot, with a focus on collaboration.
Pre-registration is required, and you can register as a:
- photographer,
- model,
- photographer + model duo,
- make-up artist,
- hair stylist,
- costumer,
- rigger,
- other creative

We will be doing our best to ensure a fair ratio of photographers, models, and other creatives sign up, and may have to close off registration to certain groups closer to the event start date, so please register early to ensure you get a spot!
Registration costs:
- Model = $40
- Photographer = $40
- Model + Photographer duo = $70 (discounted admission of $35 each if you register together!)
- Behind-the-scenes = free
We also require a $40 booking deposit upfront to hold your spot. After you shoot with us, your deposit will be refunded.
If you would like to be a featured headliner model for this event, your admission fee will be waived in exchange for adding you to our event description/promo, and your guarantee to spend time shooting with each of the participating photographers. We also require all participants to sign a release in advance, which explains the TFP terms of use for photos among the participants.

VENUE
Originally known as Oakhurst, built in 1890 for Charles Whitin Lasell, president of Whitin Machine Works, this 43-room mansion and sprawling woodland estate is now home to Estate of Mind, an intentional community of artists and creators. You are welcome to shoot in the renovated first floor of the manor, with beautiful period woodwork and decor in the ballroom, solarium, dining room, library, and more. There are numerous fireplaces of different styles, along with the pipe organ facade, stained glass, and various other visually striking elements to shoot against. Weather permitting, you can also use the lawn, gardens, and forest.

You're welcome to rearrange furniture under three conditions: 1) you receive approval and supervision from Estate of Mind staff, 2) you bring enough muscle to lift and move items with respect for the furniture and building, and 3) you, supervised, return items to their designated locations.
You are also welcome to bring your own props, including handheld, furniture, or suspended.

The hours for the event are set as noon to six to encourage people to be here at the same time with good natural light. If you would like to arrive early or stay late, please reach out to [email protected] to coordinate.
We have guest bunk rooms if you need to stay over before or after to accommodate your travel plans.
THEME
This event does not have a specific theme, but from past events here you might expect to see shoots involving costumes, glamour, steampunk, goth, body paint, Victorian period, aerial props and acts, fire/flow performance, boudoir, shibari, and various other concepts.
Most shooting at our events involves one photographer and one model, but attendees sometimes intentionally coordinate larger groups to achieve specific goals.
Some attendees may shoot in various degrees of undress, but this is not required of anyone and sexual activities are not appropriate at this event.
There will be no tolerance for shaming of people's bodies, lifestyles, or identities. The same goes for pressuring anyone to do something they have said they do not want to do. This is not a play or dating event; comments of a sexual nature are entirely inappropriate.
WHAT IS A "TF" SHOOT?
TF stands for “trade for” or "time for", such as "trade for prints" or "time for photography". No money changes hands between participants at a TF shoot. This is not an appropriate venue for individuals to negotiate or demand payment for shooting with each other, although we hope this event will create opportunities for networking that will spark some individual connections that could include future paying gigs. With that in mind, if your participation would involve significant materials cost for the benefit of others (make up, hair products, consumable props, etc) or risk to your belongings being shared (costumes, cars, prosthetics, etc), feel free to reach out to us and we can discuss reasonable guarantees and/or compensation for your involvement with the event as a whole.
While no one is obligated to shoot with anyone else, past experience gives us confidence that everyone who shows up will have multiple opportunities to work with other people in attendance. Everyone is contributing time and effort and skill while collaborating on content for their respective portfolios.
Photographers are expected to provide at least a representative selection of shots, plus any edited shots that they use, from each shoot to the models and other individuals involved in creating the content, as well as to the venue, in a reasonable time frame.
Participants will be asked to sign a general release for all participation and content at the event to be used by everyone who contributed to creating a given shot. You are also welcome to bring your own release if you need something more specific from the people you work with.
