The action begins with The Deadly Attachment, where the platoon are entrusted with guarding a group of captured German U-boat sailors — a task that quickly spirals into comic disaster. In Mum’s Army, Mainwaring’s stiff resolve is tested when female recruits arrive, bringing unexpected warmth and romance into the barracks. The Godiva Affair follows, with scandal and farce at the heart of the platoon’s preparations for the town pageant. Finally, the men turn their attention to music in The Floral Dance, a spirited and chaotic attempt at bringing culture to Walmington-on-Sea.
