The Texas Restore Act Symposium is an evening built for one purpose: to inform, connect, and organize around real relief for people who have completed their sentences and their families. This is not a lecture series. It is a gathering of returning citizens, families, advocates, legislators, and coalition partners coming together to understand what automatic record relief means for Texas and what it will take to pass the Restore Act when the 90th Legislative Session convenes.
The evening will include a clear briefing on the Restore Act itself, why automatic nondisclosure matters for the nearly eight million Texas adults currently carrying a criminal record, and how attendees can plug into the movement pushing this legislation forward. The program will also honor those doing this work with integrity. Representative Alma Allen will receive the inaugural Olivia Sholars Grace of Public Service Award, named in honor of Tangi Smith's grandmother, whose belief in second chances shaped the founding mission of the Texas Federation of the People Foundation.
Seating is limited. Post incarcerated individuals, their families, coalition partners, and anyone who believes a completed sentence should mean an actual second chance are invited to attend.
