The Bell County Delta Waterfowl Chapter welcomes you to join the first
Texas Independence Shootout. This is a hunt organized by the local chapter to bring
together hunters STATE WIDE in contest for one of Delta Waterfowl’s major pillars;
predator control. A portion of the money generated from this tournament will go back to
Delta and the local chapter.
REGISTRATION: Registration ends February 28th 12PM. Teams are $250 ($100 goes to
main pot, $20 to each side pot, $50 to Delta). Plaques to all placing members in main pot. Online, mail-in and in person entries accepted. Mail-in entries must be sent verified
mail. All team members must be listed on the entry form, if a team member does not participate, notify one of the tournament directors before the start time 12PM Feb. 28th,2026.

All teams are subject to a POLYGRAPH.
RULES:
1. All participants must follow all County, State and Federal Laws, as well as all Texas Parks & Wildlife rule & regulations including possessing a valid hunting license/ hunters education if applicable.
2. Teams may consist of up to 4 members. All members must be present at weigh in unless approval prior to tournament start by judges. Landowners are allowed to ride with teams through properties but cannot participate in the hunt, this includes calling out animals they may see while on a stand.
3. All entries are due Saturday February 28th, 2026 by 12PM. No late entries will be accepted.
4. Teams must report to weigh in by 12PM Sunday March 15t, 2026 at 10880 Hodge Canyon Dr, Salado, TX 76571. Lines will close at 12PM.
5. Teams must hunt together, no splitting up.
6. No hunting over or around baited areas, all predators (coyotes, fox, bobcats and coons) must be responding to a call.
7. Trolling is not allowed (playing a call while in a moving vehicle). Chasing animals down in vehicles is also not allowed.
8. All animals must be fresh and harvested during the contest hours (12PM Sat Feb 28, 2026- 12PM Sun Mar 1, 2026). No weight modification, frozen, trapped, snared or raised animals accepted. Judges will check animals for freshness, if violated the team will be disqualified.
9. Pooling animals between teams will not be accepted, all animals turned in by a team must have been harvest by that team within the tournament hours.
10. All teams are responsible for removal and disposal of their teams animals in a legal manner.
11. Use of night vision, infared and thermal is allowed. No use of drones
12. This is a points style tournament, coons will be worth lpt per animal with a cap of 5 total coons, fox (gray or red) will be worth 5pts per animal with a cap of 5 total fox, coyotes are 15pts per animal no cap, bobcats are 25pts per animal no cap. If in the event a mountain lion is brought in, it will not be eligible toward points or side pots.
13. In the event of a tie, winner will go to the team with the most total animals (coons, fox, coyotes & bobcats).
14. Side pots include heavy coon, heavy fox (red or gray), heavy coyote, heavy bobcat and most pigs. Teams are responsible for choosing the animal they weigh in for heavy side pots. Only one animal per team per category will be weighed.
15. In the event of a tie on any of the heaviest side pots, winner will go to the team with the most of that given animal. A tie in the most pigs side pot, winner will go to the team with the heaviest pig.
16. The use of drugs during this tournament are prohibited.
17. If a team breaks any laws or tournament rules, the team will be disqualified.
18. All teams are subject to polygraph.
19. Judges will be participating in this hunt, all decisions made by judges is final!
