About this Event
Whenever two TX Exes shall meet on March 2, they all shall sit and break bread and pay tribute to the institution that made their education.
As a Texas Ex, March 2nd holds special significance as the day that commemorates the founding of The University of Texas. Established through the Texas Constitution of 1876, the university was envisioned as a “university of the first class,” dedicated to the promotion of literature, the arts, sciences, and more. This day serves as a celebration of the foresight and vision that led to the creation of one of the nation’s leading institutions of higher education.
In 1900, the Ex-Students Association (Texas Exes) adopted a resolution which states: "Whenever two Texas Exes shall meet on March 2, they all shall sit and break bread and pay tribute to the institution that made their education possible."
The event begins at 5:30pm with socializing and chips and queso followed at 6:00pm with a beef and chicken fajita buffet dinner, and a program celebrating the founding of The University of Texas. Tea, coffee and soft drinks are included. There will be a cash bar available.
Tickets to the Texas Independence Day Celebration are $40 per person and includes tax and gratuity. Please RSVP by February 24, 2026.
