Dust off the wagon. Gather your team. The Texas frontier is calling.
Inspired by the classic Oregon Trail game, but rooted in the real Texas frontier, the Texas Frontier Trail Adventure throws young pioneers into a hands-on journey across rough trails, dangerous crossings, supply shortages, and unexpected disasters.
Cross rivers.
Trade supplies.
Manage resources.
Make hard choices.
Try not to die from dysentery.
Can your wagon party survive the trail?
The Texas Frontier Trail Adventure offers children two opportunities this summer to experience the “Wild West” and Texas frontier life. The journey sets off down the trail from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, June 13 and Saturday, July 18.
Participants will step into the role of early Texas settlers, working in teams to navigate frontier challenges, including crossing rivers, managing and trading goods, and overcoming unexpected obstacles along their journey.
The program draws inspiration from “The Oregon Trail,” the classic computer game first published in 1971.
Parents or guardians are encouraged to attend and explore the site, including a pop-up shop featuring historically inspired gifts.
Other historic sites participating in the Texas Frontier Trail Adventure include Fort McKavett, Fort Griffin, the Official State of Texas Longhorn Herd, Fort Lancaster, Kreische Brewery, and Landmark Inn.
Registration is $30 per participant and is open to children ages 7-13. To register, visit-

Participant check-in will begin at 9:15 a.m. at the Fort Martin Scott Visitor Center. Participating children are encouraged to bring their own water, snacks, and clothes they don’t mind getting dirty. Closed-toed shoes are required.
