CALLING ALL 'BURKOMANIACS'!Join Alternative Ulstours' 'Master of the Macabre' Andrew Johnston for an illustrated talk on Ulster-born graveyard ghouls William Burke and William Hare.
Andrew will tell the full shocking story of the devilish duo, from their origins in the rural north of Ireland to a fateful meeting in Scotland and the infamous series of murders that took place over 10 months in 1828.
The night will detail each of Burke and Hare's victims in order and reveal what became of the two killers, as well as their wives, their accomplices and the doctor who paid them for fresh cadavers, whilst putting the saga in the social, political and scientific context of the times.
Andrew will also discuss body snatching more generally, including the grisly account of Belfast's own 'resurrection men', George Stewart and William Feeney.
So, come along to the iconic Sunflower Public House, buy a drink, pull up a chair and let Andrew take you back to the Georgian era, when no body was safe in the ground...
