The Jonesborough Tourism Department, in partnership with the Tennessee Department of Tourist Development, will celebrate Tennessee Songwriters Week in 2026. Join us at the newly-opened Jackson Theatre on Friday, February 6 from 7 to 9 pm. The picturesque setting inside the newly renovated historical theatre of Tennessee’s oldest town makes for a musical experience like no other. What better place than the Storytelling Capital of the World to share your stories through song!
Applications are now available for songwriters to sign up to perform and can be found by visiting jonesborough.com/tnsongwriters.
Winners of the qualifying round in Jonesborough will advance to showcase event held in Kingsport at The Reserve on Monday, February 23, 2026. One finalist from each showcase will be selected to perform at a private event at the Bluebird Cafe in March. Finalists will also receive additional prizes, including a one-year membership to Nashville Songwriters Association International (NSAI).
Songs will be judged by quality of the song (original lyrics/melody and clear narrative) and performance (ability to understand lyrics and connection with the audience). To register for the Jonesborough qualifying round and view official rules, visit jonesborough.com/tnsongwriters.
Tennessee Songwriters Week is officially recognized as the last full week of February by the Tennessee General Assembly.
