Tempe Leadership Presents: Escalante Garden Day

Join Tempe Leadership in partnership with Tempe Cares for a morning of gardening, connection, and giving back at the Escalante Community Garden!

Did you know the Escalante Community Garden began as a Tempe Leadership class project? Created by our 26th cohort, this space has grown into a lasting community resource that continues to bring neighbors together through gardening, education, and service.

Now, we're returning to help this special space continue to grow!

We'll be working on a perimeter garden bed to transform it into a welcoming space for pollinators like butterflies, moths, and native bees.

Volunteers are welcome to bring a flowering plant to donate and plant in this new area. (Plant donations are optional — your time and helping hands are what matter most!)

Gloves and tools will be provided.

Please bring a hat, sunscreen, and drinking water.

The vision of the Escalante Community Garden is to build community through the production of high-quality, organic fruits and vegetables while teaching sustainable gardening and healthy cooking.

The garden helps strengthen neighborhood connections and fosters environmental stewardship, horticultural education, entrepreneurialism, and recreation.

Following a communal model, the garden shares its harvest with participating volunteers and contributes fresh produce to the community food pantry, helping supplement emergency food boxes.

It's a wonderful example of how a Tempe Leadership class project can create lasting impact in our community!

Space is limited to 20 volunteers — RSVP early to reserve your spot!
