About the Films:
Kanenon:we – Original Seeds
This film follows three Haudenosaunee women — Angela Ferguson, Rebecca Webster, and Rowen White — as they step into their sacred responsibility as seed keepers. At a time when agro-chemical corporations control more than sixty percent of the world’s seed supply, Indigenous seed keepers are protecting biodiversity by regenerating, rematriating, and safeguarding sacred seeds. Kanenon:we – Original Seeds offers a powerful vision of Indigenous communities working toward food sovereignty and honoring the work of their ancestors
Tentsitewahkwe
Rooted in the Mohawk value of tentsitewahkwe (“we pick it up again”), this film follows Jessica Shenandoah on a journey across the four seasons to revitalize the healing, land-based practices of her foremothers. As she reclaims knowledge disrupted by boarding schools, forced religion, and land dispossession, Tentsitewahkwe speaks to the strength of cultural continuance and the restoration of ancestral teachings.
