About this Event

The Mishima technique, also known as inlaid pottery, is a decorative method used in ceramics to produce detailed and precise designs. It involves carving patterns into the surface of leather-hard clay and then filling these carved lines with a contrasting slip, underglaze, or colored clay.

This six hour class will take place over three weeks, from 6:00pm-8:00pm, on the following dates: July 9th, 16th, and 23rd

Week 1- students will learn how to throw a cylinder on the pottery wheel.
Week 2- students will learn how to trim and practice a surface design technique called Mishima, making their own coloring book page on their piece of pottery.
Week 3- students will finish the Mishima design and color it in!
