The Teen Tattoo Apprentice Academy provides aspiring tattoo artists with hands-on experience and foundational skills in tattoo drawing techniques and safety practices. Taught by retired art teacher and 10 year tattoo artist/shop owner who has experience training successful working apprentices. Students will learn about design, cross contamination and hygiene, and equipment while fostering their artistic creativity in a supportive environment. This fun 3 day workshop will teach teens exactly what a tattoo apprenticeship is like, how to get one by preparing their portfolio, skills like money management for artists, and marketing. They will create marketing materials, flash sheets, and even stencil and draw on skin.
Students will NOT tattoo on skin during this class (and will learn why they should only tattoo on people when they have the proper training and their mentor supervises and approves!). They will participate hands on activities like stenciling, drawing freehand with the flow of a body, and some messy and informative cross contamination exercises. They will build their tattoo portfolios with flash and other art mediums.
The class is 8am-4pm for three days. Students are encouraged to bring a lunch but snacks and drinks will be provided throughout the day.
