Teen Hour- Smore's Dip & Capture The Flag
July 4th, 2026, marks the Semiquincentennial—250 years of American independence. We’re celebrating at the Harrington Public Library with a high-stakes, high-sugar event designed specifically for teens.
It’s time to pick a side, defend your territory, and then feast on the ultimate campfire classic. No dusty history lectures here—just strategy, speed, and melted chocolate.
🚩 Part 1: Epic Capture the Flag
We’re taking over the library grounds for an adrenaline-pumping game of Capture the Flag.
The Mission: Your team must infiltrate the "Red" or "Blue" territory to seize their colors and bring them back to your base without getting tagged.
The Strategy: Use the library’s outdoor landscape to your advantage. Will you be a silent scout or a full-speed raider?
The Stakes: Bragging rights for the next 250 years (or at least until the end of the day).
🍫 Part 2: The S’mores Dip "Feast"
Once the flags are secured, it’s time to call a truce at the S’mores Dip Station. We’re skipping the individual sticks and going big with shared skillet dips.
The Base: Layers of melted Hershey’s chocolate topped with a golden-brown blanket of toasted marshmallows.
The Dippers: Classic graham crackers, salty pretzels, and seasonal fruit.
The Customizer: Level up your dip with peanut butter swirls, caramel drizzle, or "Red, White, and Blue" sprinkles.
📝 Strategic Briefing
Gear Up: Wear sneakers and clothes you can move in. If you want to go full "Revolutionary," feel free to wear your team colors (Red or Blue).
Allergy Alert: We will have dairy and gluten present. If you have specific dietary needs, let a librarian know at registration so we can try to accommodate you!
Independence never tasted so sweet. Will you lead your team to victory?
