Semi‑private lessons | $30 per 2‑hour class | colored pencil, charcoal, pastels | Ages 12-18
Discover the joy of painting at your own pace every Thursday at The Makery! Artist and instructor Steffen Christos offers a relaxed, semi‑private studio where you choose the project that excites you most. Students will provide their own materials based on the projects they wish to undertake. With the help of tailored instruction, we can assist them in realizing their creative visions or suggest projects that align with their skill levels and learning goals.
How it works
Flexible attendance: Classes run every Friday. Come weekly, bi‑weekly, or whenever your schedule allows.
Work at your speed: Continue building on the same piece week after week, or start something new whenever you’re ready.
Personal guidance: With small class sizes, our instructor meets you at your skill level, giving targeted feedback on perspective, composition, and more.
Choose your medium: Draw in pencil, charcoal, colored pencils, pastels; or paint with acrylic or watercolor.
What to Bring for Drawing
Your selected surface (paper, sketchbook, etc.)
Pencils, brushes, colored pencils, and any other favorite tools
Erasers (kneaded and rubber erasers)
Blending stumps
Pencil sharpener
12 in. ruler
Ink pens, Alcohol Markers, Pastels, Charcoal
What to Bring for Painting
Canvas or painting surface
Paintbrushes (flat and round of varying sizes)
Paint (at least red, blue, yellow, black, and white)
Important Note
Be sure the markers or pens you want to use will work with the paper in your sketchbook.
Advance Material Purchases Recommended
To ensure a smooth and successful experience, we highly recommend that materials be purchased ahead of time. This allows you to be fully prepared and focused on your creative endeavors.
NOTE: Each student needs to bring their own supplies. A limited assortment of supplies are available in our store.
