The Budapest Art Symposium, curated by Benedetto Sicca and Giorgi Gulbatashvili, and supported by Turbina Kulturális Központ, is a multidisciplinary platform exploring the intersections between music and the performing arts.The third season of Techno Symposium opens with the first of two connected chapters under the title:
From Formulas of Creation to Formulas of Curation.
This two-part focus invites two central figures of Budapest's electronic music and nightlife scene to reflect on how their musical and artistic practice has shaped their curatorial work and vice versa.
Through their experience and perspectives, we will explore how the ways of playing, partying, and producing have changed over the past 20 years, and try to imagine how they might evolve in the next 20. What role can each artist and each member of the community play in shaping the scene to come?
Focus of Volume 2 – with Subotage
In this second chapter, we dive into the world of Subotage - an inevitable figure of the Budapest music scene.
As founder of INOTA Festival, Turbina Cultural Center, and the face of Electronic Beats Hungary, Subotage has shaped the scene both behind the decks and behind the scenes. His DJ sets blend psychedelic influences, techno, and trance, always guided by curiosity, risk, and emotional tension.
But it’s through his curatorial work that his vision fully emerges: for over a decade, Subotage has played a vital role in scouting new talent and creating space for emerging artists - building lineups, festivals and networks that reflect an idea of growth based on inclusion and artistic exchange.
Together, we will explore the philosophy behind his curatorial choices: how his musical identity informs his programming, how he builds bridges between generations and genres, and what values sustain his approach to shaping long-term projects.
The session will close with a circular B2B led by Subotage - an open, collective moment where participants are invited to play together. A simple gesture, and a powerful metaphor for his vision of the scene: open, dynamic, and co-created.
