Interested in the world of backstage and technical theatre? In partnership with the stagehands’ union local #412, kids aged 12-18 will work with skilled union technicians in hands-on activities that will open their minds to complexities and possibilities of a life in the theatre that’s behind the scenes. With unprecedented access to the corners of the Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall that the audience never sees, participants will learn from the people who truly know the “business of show."
Each day will focus on a specific stage craft, and participants will build their tech toolbox, with both information AND actual tools of the trade. Explorer Camp is designed for the younger or beginner student.
