About this Event
Tech Talks for Health Tech
Health Tech is where healthcare and life sciences converge with technology. It encompasses everything from clinical data systems and digital health tools to biotech analytics platforms. If you work with data that improves patient outcomes, accelerates discovery, or ensures compliance—you’re part of Health Tech.
Who Should Attend:
* Data & Technology Professionals: Software engineers, data scientists, data engineers, product managers, UX designers, cybersecurity specialists.
* Health & Life Sciences Experts: Clinical researchers, R&D teams, biostatisticians, lab managers, regulatory professionals.
* Decision-Makers & Oversight Leaders: Executives, compliance officers, investors, and policy influencers shaping digital health strategies.
Our first speaker is Joseph Kim, Chief Strategy Officer at Proof Pilot. Thanks to Neuroflow for hosting us.
Wearable Sensors in Healthcare and Life Sciences
Ever since the FitBit was launched 16 years ago, the promise of wearable sensors created a buzz among techies, investors, patients and healthcare. We imagined a world where disease diagnoses and monitoring were automagic and habits of the quantified self would transition us out of the world of “sick care” and into the world of true “health care.”
Well, guess what – that didn’t happen.
Yet the wearable devices became increasingly sophisticated (and expensive). And while investment in and revenue from a variety of wearable device companies grew, the medical and scientific community has not adopted any of these devices at scale. While it’s easy to blame this lack of progress on fear of change, regulatory hurdles, or incumbents protecting their cheese, the fact of the matter is that medical science has a different scale of advancement and proof point milestones than does technology. Mashing these two worlds together is extremely difficult.
