About the “Tech Talk” session in the clubhouse ballroom on January 27th — a number of DWCE residents asked me to put this together after an earlier Scam / Spam / Phishing discussion by another organization.This won’t be a technical lecture, and I promise I won’t be speaking in “computer-ese,” reading tiny PowerPoint slides, or talking at 387 words per minute.
Instead, this will be a relaxed, interactive, two-hour conversation about how online scams really work — and why most of them rely less on technology and more on simple human reaction and trust triggers.
I’m planning about 90 minutes of real-world examples and discussion, followed by 30 minutes of Q&A. Bring your questions, bring your curiosity — and yes, BYOB is encouraged.
There’s no test, no pressure, and you’re free to come and go as you like. I’ll also have a simple handout for anyone who wants to take notes.
My goal is to help you feel more confident spotting scams, phishing emails, and shady websites — and to do it in a friendly, light-hearted environment. If this session goes well, we may continue the series with other resident-requested topics.
