Tech/Finance Book Club: Going Infinite (Michael Lewis, 2023)

Brunch book club to discuss tech/finance bestsellers, big ideas, and new tech-driven structures that change the world. Books chosen every 2 weeks from those widely available as ebooks from the National Library of Singapore. Aiming for lighthearted but inspiring conversation and meeting fellow nonfiction bookworms.
March 9: "Going Infinite: The Rise and Fall of a New Tycoon" by Michael Lewis (2023)
Lewis of Liar's Poker fame is the most famous finance storyteller of all time, and his last book focused on Sam Bankman-Fried and the collapse of the FTX crypto exchange. "Going Infinite" is not the only account of SBF and FTX, but it is fascinating both because it captures the reckless, swashbuckling nature of the operation and because it has been criticized for being sympathetic to the greatest crypto scammer of all time. A unique chapter in tech and finance, not just crypto.

About the venue: Coze+ is a minimalist cafe a block from Lavender MRT station, featuring homey, lighter dishes, good coffee, and a dedicated art space complete with easels. They serve great brunches, including their own breakfast platter, beef rice bowl, authentic carbonara, and chicken sando, plus amazing bingsu and basque cheesecakes. Owner Rachel completes the feel of coming home to an extension of your living room.
