A Lifetime in the Art of the Horse
Introduced to Classical Equitation in his teens, Douglas Griffis began his journey with the Royal Lipizzan Stallion Show in 1970, building a foundation in the Baroque arts before most riders ever learn their first bad habit.
His four‑year apprenticeship with Dorita Konyot launched a performing career that spanned
The Kingdom of Dancing Stallions, Medieval Times, El Cortijo Andaluz, and his own production company, D&J Training.
Together with his wife of 40+ years, Kathi Griffis, the two share over a century of combined experience in horse husbandry, showing, breeding, and classical training.
Today, Douglas offers expert instruction in:

·Working Equitation
·Equine-Assisted Activities & Therapies
·Hippotherapy
Their passion is the Spanish/Iberian horse, celebrated for brilliance, generosity, and timeless beauty.
At the heart of their program is Maya, a 15‑year‑old Azteca mare trained in Haute École with a natural gift for the airs above the ground — and the love of their lives.
