About this Event
Byzantine studies teaching day will focus on imperial victory in Byzantium from diverse perspectives, exploring how it was conceptualized, celebrated, and challenged. Topics include the construction of imperial identity through victory propaganda, the intertwining of religious and military triumphs, and the consequences of failure for defeated usurpers, revealing the multifaceted nature of Byzantine victory narratives. Students will take part in guided tours of the Museum galleries and object storage and attend papers.
