About this Event
Join Us for the Second “Tea Talk” Series celebrating Hinamatsuri (雛祭り)
Discover the beauty and tradition behind Hinamatsuri, also known as Japanese Girls’ Day, a cherished celebration held annually in Japan in March.
Ohio University Libraries proudly houses a remarkable collection of antique Hina dolls. To honor this festival, PhD scholar Akisa Fukuzawa will share the stories behind these dolls and explore the unique history of Japanese empresses.
The event will also feature Dr. Ruth Lu from the Graduate College, who will demonstrate a traditional ceremonial tea using a Yixing purple clay teapot from China. Guests can enjoy Japanese treats paired with aromatic black tea during this engaging cultural experience. We look forward to seeing you there!
This event is independently organized by Akisa Fukuzawa and Dr. Ruth Lu, with generous support from OU Libraries’ User Services and in collaboration with the Libraries’ Special Collections & Archives.
