About Tea Ceremony
We arrive together at the tea table to share warm bowls of delicious tea and to remembering the importance of slowing down, listening deeply, and holding space for ourselves and for one another. We invite each one of our senses to be touched while we sit in meditative silence together. In a world that often rushes by, tea ceremony is a pause and a gentle reminder that, sometimes, the simplest things can be the most profound.

About Your Chajin
Chalise grew up straight west of Chicago, in the woods and on a river, where the suburbs end and the cornfields begin. Since childhood, she has always felt deeply connected to the plants, has spent years working with them in all sorts of ways, and continues to practice hearing them, each and every day.
In 2020 she was introduced to an old plant friend, Tea, in an entirely new way. Sitting with Tea in ceremony cracked open worlds upon worlds of deepening study, reverence, understanding and questioning.
Chalise honors and gives her deepest love and gratitude to all of her teachers on this path. She honors the Leaf, and all of the farmers and families who care for tea. Chalise honors the chajin who connected with tea for the past thousands of years, meeting tea openly in their own lives, and preserving and carrying her and her traditions through, for us. Chalise bows to her teachers, Wu De and Tian Wu, for their deep devotion, continuous study, their fine example, and their openness to sharing the fullness of their knowledge and their practice, with those who are seeking. She gives thanks to Global Tea Hut and to the team there, who give tirelessly and joyfully, to the mission of sharing Tea’s love. She thanks all of her tea brothers and sisters who she has learned alongside. As Wu De says “tea lessons are life lessons” and this couldn’t be more true. And she sends love and gratitude, to each and every person she has ever sat and shared tea with. She thanks them for sharing their hearts and their time, with her.
It is now her sincere and quiet honor, to be able to serve tea to all who come to sit.
